Wheel throwing can be physically demanding. Existing back, shoulder and wrist complaints may resurface. Please consider your general health and wellbeing prior to booking. Contact us if in doubt.

A tutor will be present at all times in the class, but we do expect that students are able to work on their own, safely and with competance. Access to our classes is subject to these conditions and we reserve the right to exclude anyone who we feel cannot fulfil these conditions.

Parking

There is parking for all students on site. As you come up the drive to the farm buildings you will see the car park on the right hand side (before the first big barn). Our studio is at the end of the 3rd building on the right - look out for our signs!

What to bring
You will get covered in clay.. So please wear old clothing and full shoes. You will also need to bring a full-length apron to wear and a small hand towel. Basic tools are provided, though many students like to bring their own.

Student Whatsapp Groups
You are not obliged to join, but we find it a great way for your tutor to keep in touch/pass on information/get to know your fellow students.

Payment (inc. cancellations)
Classes are paid for termly and we do require you to commit to a whole term of classes. Payment of the full class, workshop or course fees is made in advance, usually at the end of the previous term.

Weekly class fees cover tuition but do not include the costs of firing and materials. These are subject to a small extra charge which is dependent on the weight of the finished pots. This clay money Payment is collected at the end of each term.

We are sensitive to the fact that not everyone has online access, and some will need to pay in instalments email info@hillsidepotteryschool.co.uk if this applies to you.

Firing pieces produced at home
Our kilns are kept busy firing all of our weekly students' pots. If students wish to bring in pieces from home to fire, then we will apply an additional separate charge to this. We also do not guarantee that this service is available - please speak to  your tutor if you plan to use this service.

Missed Weekly Classes
In the event of being unable to make a class, please let your tutor know. We are happy for you to make up your lesson at another time, subject to there being space in another class, though this must be arranged via your tutor ahead of time. A maximum of 1 class can be made up in this way each term. We do not guarantee that a student can make up their missed class.
