Weekly Throwing Classes
Spring term is 11 weeks and runs from the weeks beginning Jan 5th to 23rd March excluding half term week (16th-21st Feb).
Classes are of mixed ability from beginner to intermediate and we aim to provide a supportive and sociable environment in which to work.
Each class has a maximum of 8 students who each have access to their own wheel. You'll be guided through the process of throwing, trimming, decorating and glazing your pieces according to your experience and skill level. There will be regular class demonstrations as well as one-to-one instruction as appropriate.

5 Week Beginners Throwing Course
Saturdays 10am-12pm for 5 weeks. Open to 12+ years if accompanied by adult
Course Dates 17th JAN to 14th FEB 2026
Our popular beginners course is specifically aimed at those students who have little or no previous experience on a potters wheel. We also welcome those students who have previously done a beginners course with us - you’ll be encouraged to throw bigger and better!
Two experienced tutors will take you through every step of the process of throwing on the wheel. The course will also cover basic decoration techniques and glazing. Your work will be fired in our kilns and by the end of the course you can expect to have created two mugs or jugs and two bowls to take home.

Weekly throwing class for less experienced potters
This class is suitable for those with little or no experience of throwing on the wheel. Maybe you previously attended one of our beginners courses, or perhaps you are just looking for a slower-paced class.
The more gentle pace of this weekly class will give you time to build confidence and practice your throwing skills in a smaller group, supported by our Tutor Fatima.
The class takes place on Monday afternoons and have a maximum of six students to allow for more individual attention.

Weekly Handbuilding Classes
Our handbuilding class is tutored by Elaine Bolt
Handbuilding pottery is the traditional method of creating ceramic objects without using a pottery wheel. From pinch pots to slab pots and from coiled vessels to sculptures, this method allows for a wide range of creative expression.
Experienced students will be given support in whatever project they choose whilst beginners can expect to be taken through the basic techniques of handbuilding before setting free their creativity, guided by our expert tutor.
The various decoration techniques using slips, oxides, and surface decoration will also be covered.

One-to-one and small group sessions
If you are interested in a one-off group session then please contact us. We can organise one-off sessions with one of our tutors for groups of up to four people and can offer both hand building and wheel throwing. A perfect experience day for you and your friends!
