SUMMER SCHOOL
Exploring monoprinting slip techniques and creating hand-built forms with Claire

10-3pm Tues/Weds 22-23rd July

Monoprinting with slip on clay is a fantastic way to create unique, painterly, and often spontaneous designs on your ceramic pieces using coloured slips. You will be shown how to use paper cutouts and stencils, brushes, sponges, sgraffito, texture tools and even free hand painting to create your designs

The various methods will be demonstrated before you set off to decorate two slabs in your own unique style. Day 2 will be spent using your printed slabs to build your final design. Your finished pot will be fired to bisque and then glazed in transparent and fired again. Pots will be available for pickup from 23rd August.

Cost £175

SUMMER SCHOOL
Landscape Sgraffito workshop with Liz

10-1pm Saturday 26th July

Using coloured slips and sgraffito, you will spend 3 relaxing hours decorating two pre-prepared small leather-hard thrown vases which will be provided.

This technique produces very painterly effects with a strong sense of depth. The subject and colour choice is yours and the experienced tutor will first demonstrate and then provide ongoing support to help you realise your final design. You can bring in any landscape reference photos if you wish or go completely into your imagination!

Your finished pots will then be bisc fired, glazed in transparent and then fired again. You will be able to collect your pots four weeks later on the 23rd August.

Pots will be available for pickup from 23rd August.

SUMMER SCHOOL
Funky Teapots with Liz & Alisha

During this two day course, you will design and create your own unique thrown teapot.

10-3pm Tues/Weds 5-6th August + morning of 18th

On day 1 we will have fun discussing and looking at different teapots, as well as learning about the fundamentals of construction and design. After demonstrations we will start throwing the body, lid and spout. We will explore playful shapes and texturing techniques to create gestural and funky forms.

Day 2 will be spent using the components to construct our teapots, pull and attach handles and apply coloured slips if time allows. Students will come back for a further 1/2 day to glaze their piece.

This course is suitable for students who are confident throwing cylinders, and have learnt basic shaping techniques. Tea pots will be available for pickup from 23rd August.

SUMMER SCHOOL
Making sculptural forms from wheel thrown pots with Alisha

10-3pm Tues/Weds 19-20th August

This course will explore the wheel as a tool for sculptural expression. Alisha will invite you to experiment, play, and push the boundaries of clay, using thrown components as the starting point for imaginative and unconventional work. This workshop is designed to be playful, intuitive, and deeply personal. You’ll leave with a greater sense of freedom in your making process and a sculptural piece (or pieces) that reflect your unique creative voice.

This course is open to all levels, though prior experience with basic throwing and shaping techniques will be beneficial. Please note: this is not a course focused on developing functional throwing skills, but rather one that encourages creative risk-taking and sculptural exploration, with a focus on mark making, surface design and form over function.

Day 1 – Inspiration, Demonstration & Sculptural Throwing

Day 2 – Deconstruction, Assembly & Play

Cost £175  Please bring lunch to share
